 In AUTUMN, we will cover chapters 1-5, through the defn of vector-valued functions.
Time permitting, we'll start the theory of Riemann-Stieltjes integration.
 In SPRING, we'll cover chapters 6-8, the Contraction Mapping Principle,
and initiate the Lebesgue integration theory, chapter 11.
  Along the way, we'll adjoin topics not in the text, and skip
some that are in the text.   My lectures will COMPLEMENT the text, rather
than parrot it, and I expect my students to read the text independently.
There will be reading assignments from WIKIPEDIA and other online sources.

  EXAMS: In Autumn, there will be either 2 or 3 take-home exams (done in
teams), with an in-class component (done individually). There will be
NO final exam; rather, a final project, due   >> Friday, 10Dec2010. <<
  The project, and the take-home exams, must be typed.

  My course has a SUBSTANTIAL class-participation grade, and attendance is REQUIRED.
