Chapters 1-11 of  "Contemporary Abstract Algebra (9-th edition)"
by Joseph A. Gallian.  HOWEVER, any edition 6,7,8 or 9 is fine.
(The 9th ed. is expensive, so consider an earlier edition.)

Letters-of-recommendation (LORs): I base LORs substantially
on how a student "thinks on his feet".  So speak a lot in class!
I require have had /TWO/ courses with me before asking for a LOR.


 ==Exam Dates, yea! =========

  Team-take-home exams, followed by an individual in-class component, for exams
A and B.  Exam C is just in-class, followed by an individual end-of-semester
project.  There will also be "pop" (unannounced) microquizzes.  There
typically will be a microquiz the class-day before and after holidays.  Also,
the class-day after an exam is typically a microquiz day.

BoC = Beginning-of-Class.
